Blog # 7: Logic Gates and the Boooooolean Algebra

So Algebra... we meet again. Hahaha! akala ko natakasan ko na ang lahat ng math subjects ko..

We discussed about logic gates... like this one:

And I was like "Mehhh...." Then I saw this:

Yeah.. That was just about my reaction.. And this guy, George Boole, created the equations for these logic gates. Thanks George...

At the end of the lesson, I now know how to add, subtract, and multiply them. But still...

Blog # 6: Attack On Titan and Google Drive

In our last laboratory class, our instructor let us watch an anime that for me is one of the best anime, Attack on Titan (known in Japan as Shingeki no Kyojin).

It's an awesome anime series.. So, she let us watch only the first four episodes.. ONLY THE FIRST FOUR EPISODES!! Since I already watched the whole series a couple of times, I already know what's gonna happen next. Tumawa nalang ako nung nabitin yung mga kaklase ko sa dull ng episode 4. HAHAHA!!:)))

So I just proceeded on spoiling the rest of the series to my group mates who haven't watched the series...

Kung magiging movie kaya ang Attack on Titan, sino-sino any mga magiging artista? Bagay kayang gumanap na Eren si Daniel Padilla?

HAHAHA! mehh...

Blog # 5: Binary Arithmetic

We learned how to read and convert number systems.. Now, we have to add or subtract them...

At ngayon ko lang nalaman.. Na pwede palang 1+1=10??? MIND.BLOWN.

Well, I got to learn how to read number systems. I thought there was only binary codes.. Turns out, there is also an octal and a hexadecimal number system...

Blog # 3: Computer Hardware

Last Wednesday in our laboratory class we discussed about computer hardware. We talked about the different components of the computer. Having sufficient knowledge about computers, I easily understood the lesson.

Since this post is about computer hardware, I'm going to share my plans on building my own desktop computer.

First, the motherboard. It is one of the most important component of your desktop because that's where you'll connect the processor, graphics card, RAM, and storage. For the motherboard, I would choose a gaming one like this,

Of course you would need a very powerful processor. Processors are very important because they act as the brain of your computer. I would choose the latest processor,

To prevent your processor from overheating, you need a good cpu cooler like this one,

To have good graphics while gaming, you also need a powerful graphics card.

These are just some of the components in building your own computer. You need a sufficient amount of RAM or Random Access Memory to have a good performance in your computer. You also need a good Power Supply Unit to power up the components. A good monitor is also needed if you want your graphics to be in the best settings. To store your data, you need a hard drive. Today, a new type of storage device is now available and it is called an SSD or Solid State Drive. It is thinner than a standard Hard Disk Drive but is better if you compare their performances. But with performance comes great price. The price of a single 256 GB SSD is equal to a 1TB HDD.

After buying all the components, you need a compatible case to put all these in. Also, to be able to buy the hardware, you need to have sufficient cash. Right now, I am saving money to buy my very first gaming computer. A computer that would run most games at max settings. Since I am still just a student, buying the high-end components is slowly turning into a dream...

Still, I am not giving up on saving the money.

Blog # 2: CMS: Blogger

In our third laboratory class in IT 1, we were taught how to create a CMS, or content management system. Basically, a CMS is a computer application that allows us users to create and publish content into the internet. We were required to create a blog in a site called Blogger. Well, this is the first time that I have heard this site, so again:

This is quite hard for me because I am not that active in posting stuff in social media. I only use the computer for two things: doing research and playing games. Blogger is a site owned by Google Inc. It is a blog-publishing service that allows users like us to publish our blogs in the internet. You can do a lot of things in your blog. You can sell stuff in it, post pictures, and post messages. your blog can also be your journal. You can write your daily posts in it, write what you have done at the end of the day and your interests, unless you want other people to see your journal. It is because your blog can be accessed by other users, see your posts, comment on it, or even share it. So if you are the kind of person who does not like other people to see your works, better not use this site. 

Blog # 1: Ubuntu & Basic File Manipulation Commands

So, during our second laboratory class in IT 1, I experienced how to use a new operating system, Ubuntu. It felt weird at first because this is the first time that I will use a different OS besides Windows and Apple.

I did not know what to do. Hahaha. But that is why i took this course, to discover new stuff. luckily, I got the hang of it in a few minutes. Our instructor taught us how manipulate files, use commands, and navigate through the desktop without using the mouse. We started entering words in the computer's terminal. When I got to create a folder and a text just by using the terminal, my reaction was like:

Welcome to my new blog!

             Hi. I'm Aron Bertos. I am currently taking up BS Biology in the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Right now, I am in my third year college. Hopefully, I will graduate on time because I plan to take up medicine and become a doctor. Ever since i started studying, I never left Los Baños even though we live in Calamba. I finished my elementary in Maquiling School Incorporated, It's the school near Math Building. When I was going to start my high school, I left Maquiling School and studied in Morning Star Montessori School Incorporated in Tuntungin-Putho. I already know the campus and all of its places even before i started my freshman year in college. I am just an average student. I did not have a lot of achievements. Though I participated in various quiz bees during my elementary days and graduated in high school with a silver medal (An achiever award in our school. This means that my average grade in my fourth year in high school was between 90-94.), I am not an over-achiever and competitive like the other students whom i see in the university. I guess my greatest achievement as of now is having the privilege to study in one of the top universities in the Philippines. There is nothing much interesting about me. I play the guitar, I know little about playing the piano, and I like browsing 9gag when I have nothing to do. Also, I like playing video games. Not just like, I LOVE playing them, especially MOBA (Multiplayer online battle arena) games like DOTA and DOTA 2. But my most favorite MOBA-themed game is League of Legends (LOL). I tried various games like FPS, but I easily get dizzy. I played MMORPG games like Guild Wars 2 and Runescape but I get bored. What really got me addicted is LOL.

             The reason why I took IT 1 is because I want to expand my knowledge about computers and possibly programming, not just dissecting frogs and various animals. I want to be flexible with my study that is why I enlisted in subjects that are far from my field of study. As you can realize as of now, I am not that kind of guy who writes posts on blogs every day, post pictures on social media, and even creates memes. That is because I don't know how to. Ha ha! So in the upcoming posts, I will try to make it less boring like this one. So, this is basically me. Sorry for the long, boring post. Here, have a potato:
